ChatBridge is a local-first Chrome extension. Conversation content is stored locally by default, but it leaves the browser when you explicitly use an AI provider, enable the Cloud Gateway, sign in, or submit diagnostics. Account, billing, and service features are optional. ChatBridge does not sell data or use it for advertising.
ChatBridge may handle conversation text, AI responses, message metadata, page hostname/URL, extracted attachments, local search indexes, settings, and API credentials that you choose to enter. Conversations and derived indexes are stored in Chrome storage and IndexedDB on your device by default.
When you use an AI transformation or embedding feature, the selected text or derived input is sent to the provider you selected, such as Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face, NVIDIA, Groq, or SambaNova. Each provider's own privacy and retention policy applies.
If you enable the Cloud Gateway feature, the selected request is sent to the configured ChatBridge gateway over HTTPS. The gateway may route it to the selected provider. Do not enable cloud mode unless you accept that the gateway and provider will process the request. ChatBridge does not intentionally store provider API keys on its servers.
If you sign in, ChatBridge handles the account identifier, email/profile data returned by the identity provider, authentication tokens, subscription tier, and credit synchronization data needed for the account features.
Optional analytics and diagnostics are stored locally unless you explicitly enable a reporting path. A user-submitted issue report may include the diagnostic message, page hostname/URL, stack information, and other fields shown in the reporting interface. You can delete local conversations, indexes, credentials, telemetry, and account data from the extension's settings or by signing out.
Conversations, settings, preferences, local analytics, embeddings, and indexes are stored in your Chrome browser profile. Account, billing, and credit information may also be synchronized with ChatBridge's authentication/database service when you sign in. Provider requests and optional cloud requests are transmitted only when you invoke the relevant feature. You can delete local data from the Options → History and Privacy settings and revoke provider credentials by removing them from Settings.
When you use ChatBridge to send selected content to an AI provider, the request may go directly from the browser to that provider or through the enabled ChatBridge Cloud Gateway. The provider's own privacy policy and retention terms apply. ChatBridge may temporarily process the request to route it, but does not intentionally retain provider request content beyond operational processing.
ChatBridge maintains optional local analytics and performance records, including counts, platform names, provider/model names, feature names, and estimated token counts. These records are disabled unless enabled in Settings and are not intended to contain conversation text. Diagnostic reports are separate and may contain URLs, stack traces, and fields explicitly submitted by you. You can disable and clear these records from the Options → Privacy & Telemetry section.
ChatBridge as a Chrome extension does not use browser cookies. The extension stores data using the Chrome Extensions storage APIs only. See our Cookie Preferences page for more information.
ChatBridge's use of information received from Chrome and from supported websites adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use that information only to provide the disclosed conversation scanning, transformation, restoration, search, and account features.
ChatBridge is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify users through the extension.
